Medicare Part D Changes

Health Care Reform continues to generate good and bad news for consumers. The good news: in 2013 there is a provision for a Federal subsidy of 25% on brand name drugs. However, this subsidy is tempered by the continued increase in drug costs.

In 2011, brand name drugs will be discounted 50% when reaching the infamous “donut hole.” We are still unsure how the 50% discount on brand name drugs will be implemented. The “donut hole” gap is not scheduled to entirely close until 2018.
