PPACA – Workplace Wellness Programs

We have discussed the merits of a corporate wellness program in great lengths with our clients. While a few have implemented programs that have achieved some positive results, many employers have simply kicked the tires and passed on a program. PPACA may change your philosophy regarding wellness programs. PPACA Workplace Wellness Program creates a 5-year grant program awarded by HHS to eligible employers to form comprehensive workplace incentives. Eligible employers are defined as those with less than 100 employees who work 25 or more hours per week.

The program must be available to all employees and include awareness initiatives, efforts to maximize employee engagement, to change unhealthy behaviors, and supportive environment efforts. The government is even willing to help pay for your efforts by putting up 200 million for the entire program. 200 million won’t last long so for those folks who are interested in applying, please give us a call.

It has been our experience that wellness programs that are designed correctly can lower your health care costs over a 3 year period, increase health care awareness and ultimately create a healthier workforce.
