Preventive Care Services PPACA Update

Effective with all renewals on or after October 1, 2010, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) makes dramatic changes to preventive care. All approved services will be covered at 100% with no member responsibility. Specific interpretations will follow, for example, would an employee be subject to a copayment? What we do know is that coinsurance would be 0%.

This is one of the more positive changes with respect to the Obama Health Care Reform Bill. We have advocates of prevention for many years at Muneris, and feel that this change could have a positive impact on your future claims.

The links below will provide more insight on what is considered a preventive care service. Please remember this new change will not be implemented until your plan renews on or after October 1, 2010. For example, your health insurance contract renews in July of 2011, this is the date that the new PPACA preventive care legislation will be implemented.
